Dear Rodrigo

Dear Rodrigo,

We've been together a long time.  They've been wonderful years, but I find myself needing to branch out now—to try something new.  I don't know how to tell you this, so I'm just going to come out and say it: I met someone new.  Her name is McLovin.

Yes, it's a her.  I know—I was surprised too.  As you know, all my consorts have been male.  I've never had a female before, but since I'm in this mode of trying new things, I decided to accept it and just go with it.  McLovin is sleek and smart and sexy, and I'm quite taken with her.  The name, I admit, is a bit unconventional, but when have I ever been attracted to the norm?

I'm sorry it had to come to this, but you have to admit we had a great run.  I'll always remember the trips we took together—especially Buenos Aires—and the way you stuck by me through tough deadlines, staying up late with me to get things done.

You'll find someone to love you again.  You're a great guy—reliable and solid.  Yes, you've been around the block, but you still have miles in you, and someone is going to love to travel those miles with you.

Adieu, Rodrigo.

  • Jen: I know. I'm so fickle.

Parisa: Try it and you may lose some fingers.

  • Here's hoping that McLovin is not also a fickle female and that she doesn't forsake YOU for another.

  • Ouch.

  • Yeah. She might forsake you for me. I'm younger, after all. ;)

  • My own laptop recently died in a, um, gravity-instigated confrontation. He was a gift from my grandfather for starting university three years ago and SPLAT he takes a header one month before I finish. And I'll admit he had lousy battery life, was prone to overheating and had shotty memory after a run-in with a virus last year that left him rather damaged in the OS department but he was a great little guy that served me well despite his shortcomings. SIGH.

Plus I can't afford a replacement so life sans laptop really makes you appreciate what was.

  • I hope McLovin is as good to you as Sophia is to me :) We've been getting along great since I bought her in November. Kovu is still around for now, as his large screen sometimes seems like a real luxury compared to Sophia's tiny one, but I don't know if he'll still be around once I've saved up some money... A USB keyboard and a compatible (less mobile) monitor are all Sophia needs to render him useless, but at the same time, I'm kind of fond of having that second option...

My sympathies to Rodrigo... Where is he going to go now?
