Gone Packing

My muse is gone.

I'm pretty sure she got sick of waiting for me to feel ready to hang out with her. I have a strong feeling that she packed her bags and headed south—specifically to Buenos Aires, because she and I were happy there once upon a time.

Does that mean I'm not writing? Hell no. It just means I'm writing crap. I sit my ass in the chair every day, regardless. I show up, even if she doesn't. It isn't pretty, but it's something.

I know one day she'll return (I hope) and we'll start working in tandem again. Until then, I have Jay-Z to keep me company. 50 Cent too. And Biggie has my back from the big recording studio in the sky.

Also, I'm taking applications for a new muse—or muses. Please be ready to give me sample ideas for blog topics, marketing copy, and future books. You can be related to me, but if you give me lame ideas (like writing about llamas) your chances of getting this coveted position will be slim, even if I do love you best.

  • Hmmm...maybe your Muse has run off to hang out with mine. Maybe there's some Muse convention we don't know about.

  • A muse convention... I hadn't thought of that. They should have told us though, don't you think? Or marked it on our Google calendars.

  • Mine's been AWOL for a while now. Came back after a 4 month hiatus long enough for me to get two new poems, and is once again diasppearing. Although I think that's largely because she has no tolerance for chemistry and whatnot, in which I've been up to my neck.

    Coffee shop romance!

  • Maybe muses have to go away in order to refuel with creative energy?

I think my muse would like chemistry.

  • Maybe they're giving away calendars in the Muse Convention freebie room this year...or maybe they're all just pigging out on cheap chocolate attached to bookmarks....

  • Llamas are very interesting, I think.

Maybe your muse wants better benefits and is on strike. Because how do you treat her, really? You just use and use and use. And what does she get?

  • When was the last time you bought your muse a breve? Gotta treat her right.

Wait, hang on, are those lines from a George Strait song? Ooops, sorry. Ipod on shuffle.

  • Um, a couple of months ago I commented on a post asking about a short story or something that would be from Rhys' POV (since MARKED BY PASSION was all from Gabe's in first person and then the series switched to third). Maybe explaining the missing painting or Gabe's Evil Brother. You agreed it might be a good idea, and, well, I was just wondering if there'd been any progress on that front. Because I would LOVE a peek at Rhys' inner workings.

  • JB, my muse wouldn't pig out on cheap chocolate. She'd be hanging at the bar, drinking champagne and exchanging work horror stories. "This one time, my author decided she wanted to write--get this--X-Men meets The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Shudder. Can you imagine??"

Parisa, if I didn't know you, I'd be concerned about your fascination with llamas.

Caitlyn, my muse needs a bottle of 18 year Oban. No, I'm not projecting. Much.

Calliope, I've been thinking of putting it out on Amazon, like as a short. I'm considering. I'll know better once I'm less occupied with TEMPTED BY FATE (released December 1st!).
