Good Intentions
I started out today with good intentions. This morning I was going to write a blog post on one of the craft topics suggested last week* so I had time to polish it later, but that plan went awry really quickly. To my defense, I was out of town, still celebrating the Fourth of July (translation: boozing it up with friends over an extended weekend).
Ahem.
So I'll write a crafty post next week. Maybe I'll even answer a hodge-podge of different questions. This week, however, I need your help. So get your cape, lasso, and whatever other accoutrements you may need to come to my rescue.
Are you ready? Are you sitting down?**
Basically, I need something to work on. I'm in this holding pattern where I'm waiting for green lights on different projects, or feedback on stuff I've turned in. For the past week, I've had nothing to do—nothing to write.
In short, I am going insane.
I don't think I can go another week without starting work on something—I'm just not sure what it should be. Give me suggestions. What do you guys think? (I mean, other than me writing a decent blog post for a change.)
Maybe I want to work on a young adult story. Thoughts?
For you writers: what are you working on? For you readers: what do you want to read? Tell me. I'm all ears.
* Thanks for the suggestions, Jen.
** Because my dilemma may bowl you over, and I don't want you to hurt yourself.

Write a YA Superheroine!
Caught an episode of the old Greatest American Hero on tv this wknd. When I was a kid I loved that show...now I see how much it truly sucked, lol. BUT it made me wonder why there aren't more Superheroes/heroines.
As for me, I just started working on the requested revisions of a suspense novel. Knowing that the editor is "creeped out" by my killer has unleashed my darkest demons **laughs maniacally"Posted by Jen, 06/07/2010 11:33am (2 years ago)

Jen, your maniacal laugh is freaking me out, maybe because I can see and hear you doing it, all while wearing your signature pink.
I loved GAH when I was a kid too. My brother, cousins, and I watched it from the very first episode. When I was in Buenos Aires I rewatched an episode and I couldn't believe how much it sucked too. :) Makes me wonder what I'd think of books I'd loved as a kid, like Sidney Sheldon's If Tomorrow Comes.Posted by Kate, 06/07/2010 11:48am (2 years ago)

The GAH theme song has imho survived the test of time. Believe it or not.

Write a story involving people you know in real life! (Obviously with some surreal factor, ie development of superpowers, zombie apocalypse survival, etc.) If you do it just for fun, there's no trouble with putting it aside once you get the other green lights.

Jen: Talk about a song that gets in your head and won't let go.
Karen: I do that all the time. I called it my blog. ;)Posted by Kate, 07/07/2010 8:06am (2 years ago)

I'm in SLC with Virna on a writing retreat (read: hotel room with laptop and NO outside distractions) working on my YA, Dear Aubrey. I totally think you should write a YA...you'd have a great voice for it. IM me on Skype and I'll help you brainstorm!

PS We don't have alcohol, but we do have 24 hour coffee service downstairs.
