Critique
Where Kate goes through and outlines the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript, providing ideas and solutions how to strengthen it.
My main objective is to help you tell your story in the most effective, powerful way. Typically I discuss:
- Characters
- Plot/structure
- Style/voice
- Dialogue
But what goes into a critique is entirely up to you and what you feel you need.
Usually, it goes down something like this: you give me your chapters or manuscript, I read it and scribble notes inline (in the margins), and/or I give you a formal letter outlining my observations and ways to strengthen your work. If you want, we can have a conversation to go over the manuscript and brainstorm ideas and solutions.
Line Editing
Sometimes you just need someone simply to clean up your manuscript, to check to see that all your I's are dotted and your T's are crossed. How thorough or extensive you'd like your line edits is entirely up to you.
Submissions
I don't refer clients to agents, but I can help you target the right agents in addition to fine-tuning your submission package, including query letter and synopsis review.
